The San Augustine Garden Club spearheaded the renovation project several years ago.

Matching funds for the Texas Historical Commission's $4,000,000 grant were possible due to fund raisers by the Garden Club and community.

Construction is scheduled to begin early 2009, and the project is scheduled for completion by 2011.
